An endowed lectureship enables the University to support the work of a promising young faculty member at the start of his or her career: an endowment on the fund provides both salary and research funding in perpetuity for a lecturer position. All publications and activities done by the lectureship incumbent are associated with the name of the lectureship. When the incumbent's status rises to professor, the lectureship is bestowed upon a promising newer faculty member, so the endowment continues to fund faculty members during the earlier part of their careers.
A gift of $625,000 can establish an endowed Lectureship.
