Gifts of Life Insurance

Gifts of Life Insurance

A charitable gift of life insurance can create a major legacy in support of The Hebrew University at a relatively low annual cost to you. Your estate will not be diminished by your gift, and your legacy will not affect assets earmarked for family members. If you are over age 60 and no longer need a paid-up life insurance policy,  you can donate it to American Friends.

To make a gift of life insurance you can:

  • Make a gift of a life insurance policy you currently own and receive a current income tax deduction for the value of the policy
  • Contribute a new life insurance policy, designating AFHU as the owner and beneficiary; depending upon the state insurance laws you may be eligible for a current income tax deduction
  • Add AFHU as a remainder beneficiary on an existing policy or a new policy
  • Assign the annual dividends from an existing life insurance to supplement or make a charitable contribution to AFHU, receiving a charitable deduction as the dividends are paid
