Professor Rony Wallach is a member of the Department of Soil and Water Sciences at the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food & Environment.
Professor Wallach's research focuses on how to improve crop irrigation and protect the soil from the harmful chemicals deposited by impure water. His work is especially important for arid and semi-arid regions facing fresh In regions where farmers often use wastewater to irrigate their fields due to fresh water shortages.

Rotem Tal
Haifa-born Rotem Tal, 25, is a third-year undergraduate in Middle Eastern studies and international relations. She made the Dean's List during the 2008-2009 academic year. Concerned about peace since her childhood, she participated in a Jewish-Arab encounter program at the School for Peace in Neve Shalom in 2007.
In 2001-2002 she took part in the “Eshkoplot” intercultural Israeli-Arab project in Haifa, which comprised youth engagement workshops and meetings between Jewish and Israeli Arab peers. She has also served as a Jewish Agency emissary and camp counselor.
